On 21 November 2004, the Australian Chinese Basketball Association departed Sydney's
International Airport for an 18 day tour of China and Malaysia.
The tour made memorable stops in the Chinese cities of Guangzhou, Fo Shan, Shantou,
Shenzhen, Puyun and Long Gong, and the Malaysian cities of Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and
Penang.
Overall, the Dragons managed a fantastic performance by finishing with nine wins
from their ten games. Most of the games were very close, and often was not decided
until the final minute with free throws, or great defence. The Queen Beez finished
the tour with four wins out of their eleven games. Whilst not coming away with an
overall winning record for the tour, the Queen Beez once again enjoyed the experience
to play against the more experienced semi-professional teams. The veteran team participated
in the World Invitation Tournament for Veterans in Shantou, China. This year a total
of 183 teams participated across the various men’s and women’s divisions.
